TAP Air Portugal launched new routes to Curitiba, in Brazil, and Athens, in Greece, on 1 and 2 July 2026, expanding its international network and strengthening its offering during a summer marked by the airline’s growth.

“The launch of services to Curitiba and Athens reinforces our growth strategy in key markets, consolidating our leadership in Brazil and expanding our European network from our Lisbon hub,” states Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP Air Portugal.

On 2 July, TAP launched the route between Lisbon and Curitiba, with three weekly flights operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, on the Lisbon–Curitiba–Rio de Janeiro–Lisbon route. Flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Lisbon at 13:00, 15:00 and 11:45 respectively, and arriving in Curitiba between 18:45 and 21:55. After a stopover in Curitiba, the flights continue to Rio de Janeiro, with the return journey to Lisbon operating from that city, departing between 23:00 and 02:15 and arriving between 12:55 and 15:55.

With this new route, TAP now flies to 14 cities in Brazil, reinforcing its leading position in air connections between Europe and the country. Brazil remains one of the airline’s most strategic markets, and TAP is thus consolidating its presence in a region with strong historical, cultural and economic ties to Portugal. Curitiba, the capital of the state of Paraná, stands out as one of the main economic hubs in southern Brazil, recognised for its industrial dynamism, quality of life and strong links to Europe, making it a key destination for both business and leisure travel.

On 1 July, TAP also launched the route between Lisbon and Athens, with five weekly frequencies. Flights depart from Humberto Delgado Airport at 21:30 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving at Athens International Airport at 03:40 the following day. In the opposite direction, departures take place between 04:40 and 04:50 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with arrivals in Lisbon between 07:05 and 07:15.

During the summer, the service is operated by Airbus A320neo aircraft, switching to Embraer E190 during the IATA winter season. The new route to Athens expands TAP’s presence in south-eastern Europe and strengthens the range of tourist destinations within its network. Considered the cradle of Western civilisation, the Greek capital is one of Europe’s most iconic destinations, distinguished by its historical heritage of universal value and its cultural richness.

The launch of the routes to Curitiba and Athens forms part of TAP’s growth strategy for 2026, based on expanding the network and strengthening international connectivity, thereby consolidating Lisbon as a strategic hub for connections between Europe, the Americas and Africa.
